There
are skeleton clocks made similarly to all other types of modern
day clocks. The difference is, you can see the inner workings of
such clocks. Some are surrounded in glass. Some are wall clocks
with pendulums and all, some are mantel clocks—they come in
a wide variety of styles for being so interesting and seemingly
intricate in design.
However, they are really no different, when you think about it.
For every clock has its own inner workings, all are as complicated
and intricate as those you see in skeleton clocks, but the inner
workings of any normal clock are simply hidden.
Some of these clocks are kids clocks, for example, I saw a skeleton
clock of Winnie the Pooh. One of the features of this skeleton clock
is an hourly “chime” where Pooh Bear would sing a bit
of a song. The chime can, of course, be turned off if one chooses,
especially at night so as not to wake the child.
Some of the more adult-style skeleton clocks I have encountered
are beautiful works of art. One such clock, called the Hentschel
Skeleton Pendulum Wall Clock, has a brown-stained background and
a beautiful pendulum; it has its own shelf-like mantel on which
the main clock is mounted and surrounded by a bubble of glass. The
skeleton clock and all its clock working parts are made of gold
and silver metals—giving the clock a quite elegant look.
Another such splendid-looking skeleton clock is called the Sternreiter
Skeleton Anniversary Clock, it has a shiny golden base and the glass
that covers the clock workings themselves is in the shape of a cone,
on the outside of this glass cone is the actual face of the clock.
This skeleton clock would make a great mantelpiece clock, or it
could also be ideal for a desk or shelf in your home or office.
I think that skeleton clocks have a unique and beautiful style to
them, adding a certain flavor of personal taste to the ambiance
of any room in the home or office.
One more skeleton clock I will mention is the Seiko Silvertone
Skeleton Mantel Clock. This skeleton clock is mostly silver, it
has a square silver base with glass sides. The face of the clock
is mounted (looking almost suspended) between the bottom and the
top of the clock. The bottom of the clock has a sphere across the
base directly under the face and inner-workings of it. The top of
the clock, similarly, has a sphere above the clock face and inner
workings of the clock. Some parts of the interior are gold, but
the skeleton clock itself is primarily silver. Across the top of
the clock is a silver arch. This type of skeleton clock would be
perfect for the home. In the bedroom or study, on a shelf or mantel.
Although skeleton clocks are not seen that often, they are a luxurious
addition to any room. You may no be able to find a good skeleton
clock in a nice department store—but the best skeleton clocks
as well as the largest selection of skeleton clocks will always
be available at stores that specialize in clocks exclusively.
