Modern
clocks are occasionally available at department stores. The most
popular are the most abstract—these modern clocks are usually
found in shops that specialize in modern and specialty clocks.
Modern clocks for your walls:
You can find a wide variety of modern clocks that will add a certain
appeal to the décor and style of the place you live in, especially
if you are the artistic type. Whether you live in an apartment,
a house, a trailer, or whatever, a modern clock has shocking and
pleasing appeal! But I suppose that modern clocks are not for everyone.
They certainly do appeal to a specific taste. They are not always
round, in fact, most often that are as far from round as one can
get. Still, they are almost never digital—occasionally I will
come across one of these modern clocks and have to pause a moment
and ask myself “how exactly does one read the time on this
thing?” These modern clocks can be found in many different
designs, shapes, colors and backgrounds. They can be made of materials
ranging from plastics to wood to stainless steel etc. Many clocks
classified as modern clocks are more costly than your average clock—and
can, of course, be harder to find. They are often very similar to
what you would see in an art museum—the only difference being
that they serve two functions, as modern décor, and of course,
to tell the time. I have seen modern clocks in kidney shapes, in
strange Picasso-like shapes, in rectangular and triangular shapes,
with hands that overshoot the frame, with a face that is tiny in
the center, with shapes I don’t know the names of and so on
and so on.
Modern clocks with black and burgundy designs are my personal favorite,
but such modern stylistic designs of modern clocks are available
in many tones and colors and patterns and sizes and shapes and forms
of expression. Sometimes the best of them just will not “go”
in any room of the house—they are so complex that they become
overwhelming. These are some of the artists favorites—you
can not make the clock go with the room? Get creative and make the
room go with the clock! Perhaps the clock is angled or lopsided
or what have you. Tilt the couch. Move some paintings. Add some
paintings. Give the whole room that modern style inspired by your
modern clock.
I know many artists who have adopted the art of designing modern
clocks in addition to their other artistic endeavors. So, more often
than not, these clocks are not only artistic—they really are
actual artwork.
Someday there will be modern clock museums, I am sure of it. Until
then—let your walls display some of the best of this growing
art form. There is art for everyone—so even if you don’t
like the, shall we say, louder modern clocks available. You could
fall in love with one in pale colors, with a soft, tapered shape,
and hands of gold.
